PROTEUS Series "Lightning" Asphalt Granulator - Model PL1800

Designed specifically to granulate waste asphalt products and is available in a wide range of specifications to meet individual needs.

THE PL1800 is not a crusher - it reduces blacktop materials by a shredding action to reduce compacted and uncompacted lumps through the binder/filler matrix to minimise stone breakage and maximise the integrity of the original stone particle specification.

The PL1800 will -
  • Handle plant waste and returned loads.
  • Reduce waste at up to 100 tonnes per hour.
  • Produce a product up to 95% minus 20mm.
  • Handle slabs up to 1.5M x 1M x 0.5M.
  • Produce a saleable sub-base product.
  • Enable material to be hot recycled.
  • Allow adjustments to the product grading.

  • Operate winter or summer.
  • Minimises damage when presented with tramp metal.
  • Avoid the need for a pre-breaker.
  • Simplify transportation between sites.
  • Give an environmental alternative to dumping.
  • Avoid Landfill Tax.

  • Product grading is controlled by adjustable granulating grates which interface with a 1.8M wide rotor assembly driven at low speed by a 90KW drive. The drive sytem incorporates variable speed control together with electronic and mechanical overload protection.

The heavy duty rotor assembly is a composite design incorporating carbide tipped cutting tools with an operating width of 1800mm. It is fully lined with abrasion resisting plates cast from high chrome steel. The construction is designed for ease of maintenance on site.
The Granulator is generally of a bolted and welded construction incorporating a feed hopper of 6m³ capacity. All contact surfaces are lined with renewable wear resistant steel plates. Material is fed to the rotor by an hydraulically controlled ram. Hydraulic pressure is also utilised to power the optional jacking legs to enable loading and transportation on a 750mm low bed trailer.
The rotor is driven by a 90kw geared motor controlled by a frequency converter providing soft start operation, variable speed, direct torque control and overload protection. All electronic and hydraulic circuits are operated and monitored by a PLC. The rotor operates at low speeds which ensures minimal vibration, noise and dust emission.

The PL1800 Granulator incorporates experience and knowledge gained by the Company in supplying plant and equipment for mining, quarrying, scrap reclamation and recycling since 1911.
